ARE YOU A QUALIFIED MAKEUP ARTIST?
Yes - Mrs Twig is fully qualified and accredited by the International Makeup Association which is the only internationally recognised makeup qualification available in the UK.
DO YOU HAVE INSURANCE?
This is a very important question as most self-taught Makeup Artists are not eligible for business insurance. We are pleased to confirm that, as a fully qualified artist, Mrs Twig also holds full Public Liability Insurance.
HOW DO I CHOOSE A GOOD MAKEUP ARTIST?
Always check that an artist is fully qualified and insured and be wary of people offering incredibly cheap makeup applications - if it seems to good to be true then it probably is! Don’t be afraid to ask questions regarding hygiene practices and ask for reviews or testimonials from previous clients. Do pay attention to images on the artist’s website and social media channels, but keep in mind that some of these may have been edited! Meet up with potential artists if you can for an informal coffee and chat to see if you click, the last thing you want on the day of your wedding or special event is to find you have a major personality clash!
ARE YOU MOBILE?
Special occasion makeup appointments, bridal trials and 1:1 lessons are generally held at our pop-up home studio in TF4. Alternative locations may be used, subject to prior approval and any applicable mileage fees.
Makeup parties are usually held at the home of the party organiser and personal makeup shops generally take place at Telford Shopping Centre.
For bookings on the day of your wedding, Mrs Twig will travel to your venue or home.
WHAT AREAS DO YOU COVER?
We are based in Telford but also cover other areas including Shrewsbury, Chester, Oswestry, West Midlands, Wales and further afield. We are also available for destination weddings - please contact us for a bespoke quotation.
DO YOU CHARGE A MILEAGE FEE?
Locations in excess of 15 miles from TF4 shall be subject to an additional mileage fee of 0.45 pence per mile. For distances in excess of 150 miles (round trip) a minimum booking of three people is also required.
WHICH MAKEUP BRANDS DO YOU USE?
We do not use or favour one specific brand. All of our products are hand-picked based on their quality - if it's in our kit it's because it works. You can expect to see us use a range of professional products including; Urban Decay, Morphe, Huda Beauty, Anastasia Beverley Hills, Charlotte Tilbury, MAC, BellaPierre, Smashbox, Clinique, Kiko, Bourjois, Estée Lauder and more. The majority of our kit is Cruelty Free so if you prefer us to use only these products just let us know at the time of booking.
WHY IS BRIDAL MAKEUP MORE EXPENSIVE THAN STANDARD SPECIAL OCCASION MAKEUP?
Wedding makeup is different to standard makeup applications in that specific products will need to be used to ensure longevity and high performance on camera. We have spent thousands of pounds building a reliable bridal kit and researching the best possible products for your wedding day.
Weddings can also be stressful events for your makeup artist as there is often a more restrictive timeframe to work to.
Time spent at the consultation and for correspondence is often much higher than for standard appointments as we will discuss your day, themes, colour schemes at length before pinpointing a look that you feel completely happy with. We may also tweak the look more than we would for a standard application.
Travel (within 15 miles of TF4) is also included with all bridal bookings.
All of this is reflected in the price of your bridal makeup application.
WHAT ARE TRIAL APPOINTMENTS?
Trial appointments give you the opportunity to try out a makeup look in advance of your event. This is important for a number of reasons such as testing the longevity of the application, making sure you have no adverse reactions or allergies and also making sure you actually like the makeup. Often styles that we see on social media, or in magazines, look much different in person so a trial ensures your final look is one that that you feel 100% comfortable with. This is why we include a trial as standard with all of our bridal bookings.
We advise brides to book a trial at least 6-8 weeks prior to your wedding day.
All trial appointments include a comprehensive consultation process, during which we will discuss the various elements of your wedding such as colour themes and styles, as well as undertake an analysis of your skin and provide any personalised recommendations to help you get the very best from your bridal makeup.
Trial appointments generally take place at our pop up studio in TF4, or an agreed upon location.
From there we will create a look based on what we have discussed during the consultation. We may make a few amendments along the way, such as changing a lip colour or adding to an eye look. However, please note that only one full look may be trialled per appointment - it may be necessary to book a second trial.
As part of the appointment we will advise you of the products used and record everything on your individual trial sheet.
Additional trials are priced at £35pp and can also be booked for special occasion makeups. Trials for festival makeup are priced at £40pp.
During your trial we will be using our products, time and expertise so we regret that these sessions cannot be given free of charge.
HOW FAR IN ADVANCE SHOULD I BOOK?
In a nutshell, as soon as possible - we are currently accepting wedding bookings into 2021. Weekends during peak season (May - Sept) are the first to get booked up.
For all other makeup services we recommend booking around 4-6 weeks in advance of your event.
DO YOU HAVE A MINIMUM BOOKING POLICY?
During peak wedding season (May-Sept) we operate a minimum booking policy of the Bride +1 other (Bridesmaid/Mother of the Bride/Groom).
For all other bookings see our Services & Prices page for individual requirements.
DO YOU REQUIRE A DEPOSIT?
Yes, a 50% deposit is required to guarantee your booking. Once this is received we will then turn away all other work for your specific date/time. As a small business, we regret that we are unable to hold appointments for more than 48 hours after initial enquiry without deposit payment/contract return. Your deposit amount is deducted from your total balance due.
WHEN WILL THE PAYMENT BALANCE BE DUE?
Any remaining balance is due on the day of your booking, prior to the makeup application commencing.
DO I NEED TO SIGN A CONTRACT?
Yes. Any legitimate Artist will ask clients to sign a contract. This, along with your deposit payment, secures your booking and safeguards both parties.
HOW DO I PAY FOR MY MAKEUP?
Deposit payments can be made via Bank Transfer. Cash or card payment is available on the day of your appointment.
WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?
In the case of cancellation by the client the booking fee is non-refundable, but may be transferable (subject to availability and at the discretion of the MUA) if more than 48hours notice of cancellation are given.
In the case of cancellation by the Makeup Artist in cases of unforseen circumstances and/or illness, all monies paid shall be refunded in full and we shall endeavor to find a suitable replacement.
If you decide not to go ahead with your booking after your trial appointment then your deposit shall be considered full and final payment for services rendered and no further payment shall be due.
