We understand that booking a boudoir shoot can feel a little daunting, so we’ve answered some of the questions we are most often asked on this page. If there is something you would like to know that we haven’t covered, or if you are still feeling a little nervous, then contact us and we’ll be happy to help (and if you’d prefer to meet up for an informal coffee and chat in person make sure to ask Mr Twig to act out some boudoir poses as it’s always a fabulous icebreaker!)

I’VE NEVER DONE THIS BEFORE AND I’M REALLY NERVOUS, WILL YOU HELP ME?

Absolutely! Right from your initial enquiry, up until you receive your final images we are here to help; from styling and prop selection for your shoot, guiding you through poses during your session, right up to image selection for your final product/s – just think of us as your own personal Yoda. Only we’re not green. Or fictional.

I AM OLDER/NOT AT MY IDEAL WEIGHT, WILL I STILL GET GOOD IMAGES?

The funny thing is out of all the women you see in our galleries, around 99% of them asked the same questions. We are happy to say we have photographed women from their 20s to 70-years-young, petite to plus size, most of whom have never experienced a professional photoshoot before. And all of these women achieved flattering images that captured their own individual beauty. The very images that caught your eye and led you here. Please note clients must be over 18 to book a boudoir shoot.

DO I NEED TO KNOW HOW TO POSE?

Not at all. We will coach you through your shoot with easy-to-follow instructions to guide you, from your facial expression down to the placement of your fingers. We will not tell you to strike your best Right Said Fred “too sexy” pose or tell you to “work the camera” or give any other vague direction. In fact, if you’re struggling to master a pose just ask our photographer, Paul, to demonstrate - many of our clients find his Dita Von Teese impression the highlight of their session!

I’M WORRIED ABOUT ACNE/CELLULITE/STRETCHMARKS. DO YOU OFFER RETOUCHING?

Minimal retouching is included with every session. We soften or remove scars, bruises, blemishes, stretchmarks and cellulite if required and to client specification. What we don’t do is “take off 14 pounds” or do “body reshaping.” We work with our clients to find the most flattering poses and lighting to highlight your best features. Our boudoir shoots are all about a celebration of women and embracing your body no matter what shape or size. Editing images to the point they are unrecognisable is not our cup of tea. To be honest, we prefer coffee.

WILL YOU POST MY IMAGES ONLINE OR ELSEWHERE?

We understand that boudoir photography is very intimate and therefore we would only use your images for promotional purposes if you sign a model release form which is 100% optional.

HOW FAR IN ADVANCE SHOULD I BOOK MY SHOOT?

We recommended booking your boudoir shoot at least 6-8 weeks before you require your final products, although our sessions do get booked up quickly, especially on weekends, so if there’s a specific date you have in mind it’s best to contact us as soon as possible.

I DON’T WANT MY SHOOT IN A HOTEL, CAN I USE SOMEWHERE ELSE?

We have specially selected our partner hotels for their luxurious design, space and light. However, if you would prefer your shoot to be on location elsewhere, or in your own home, this may be arranged, subject to a pre-shoot suitability visit. We’re always keen to hear your ideas so if you have an unusual or quirky venue you’d love to use, just let us know. Additional mileage charges may apply for locations outside of Shropshire.

IS HAIR & MAKEUP INCLUDED?

Professional hair and makeup is included as standard in our session fee and is carried out by our own, fully qualified, makeup artist (our very own Mrs Twig). Getting your makeup and hair done sets the tone for your session, it gives you time to relax, get to know us better and feel pampered. But more importantly, a professional artist is able to achieve camera-ready makeup that will enhance your shoot experience.

HOW MANY OUTFITS?

Our standard boudoir shoots are 90 minutes which is usually enough time for 2-3 outfit changes (possibly 4 if you are able to change faster than The Flash on espresso). An extra 1-2 outfits/30 minutes of shoot time may added to your package as an optional extra. Bridal Boudoir clients receive an additional 30 minutes shoot time as part of their package - this is enough for an extra outfit change or a mini milk bath session, depending on your preference.

CAN I BRING A FRIEND TO MY SHOOT?

Generally we prefer for the photographer to work one on one with clients, simply because sometimes an ‘audience’ can make you feel more self conscious. However, if you would prefer another female to be in the room then we can arrange for Suzi (aka Mrs Twig) to assist during the shoot, or you can bring a friend for moral support. For all boudoir parties/marathons (multi-client events) there will be at least one assistant in attendance as standard.

I WANT TO BOOK A SHOOT, WHAT DO I NEED TO DO?

Firstly, congratulations! You're about to join an exclusive club - Twig’s Ladies Who Boudoir (there’s a secret handshake and everything… #justkidding). To start the process rolling simply drop us a line either by email or via our contact form with your preferred date and we’ll take it from there.
